Netwrap
What are the benefits of Tama Premium net?
Original Edge to Edge coverage, from Tama’s Edge to Edge patent and more meters per roll at the same weight as ‘traditional’ netwrap, that means: more bales per roll, less roll changeovers, less rolls needed to store, less plastic used to bale the same number of bales, and a better cost per bale. Tama net is weight optimized but stronger.
How does TamaCycle Netwrap contribute to environmental sustainability?
TamaCycle Netwrap offers several environmental benefits, including using less plastic per bale, reducing the weight of the netwrap, and incorporating high percentages of post-industrial waste recycled content throughout its manufacturing process. The packaging also includes various percentage from 40% to 100% post-consumer recycled material, making it the perfect eco-friendly choice for baling.
What is TamaCycle Netwrap, and what makes it a unique solution for baling?
TamaCycle Netwrap is a first-of-its-kind, high-performance, recycled eco-baling solution. It’s designed to reduce the environmental impact of baling while maintaining excellent performance. It features less plastic per bale because of the lighter rolls and the percentage of recycled content that it contains. The packaging also includes between 40% - 100% percent recycled material and is easy to recognize by its black and green Zebra pattern.
Does TamaCycle Netwrap sacrifice performance or durability in favor of its eco-friendly features?
TamaCycle Netwrap is designed to provide both eco-friendliness and high performance. It maintains its performance standards while being environmentally conscious. You can expect reliable baling results without compromising on durability, making it a valuable choice for eco-conscious baling operations.
Why does Tama netwrap have colored stripes?
Tama ‘Zebra pattern’ is an indicator to clearly show one side of the roll from the other, to assist in correct roll loading for baling, and to help identify which way the bale will un-roll when feeding. That’s cutting-edge baling innovation.
Why Netwrap?
Round baling with Netwrap is the most convenient and least expensive way of wrapping your bale. Wrapping with Netwrap reduces costs by being faster than using twine and offers much better protection to the crop than twine ever could.
The main points include:
Less wear and tear on the baler
Fewer revolutions of the bale are needed when net wrapping, dramatically reducing wear and tear on the baler.
Greater speed of operation
Netwrap needs fewer revolutions, reducing the wrapping time and allowing up to 15-20 more bales per hour.
Better coverage on the bale
Net wrapped bales maintain a more uniform shape, making transporting and handling easier, particularly important when wrapping silage bales on an automatic bale wrapper. Bale coverage from edge to edge is also essential when silage wrapping, eliminating air from the bale to ensure better quality forage.
Better weathering capability
Net wrapped bales offer much better weathering capability, allowing outdoor storage and reducing loss from crop wastage.
Easier to remove
Opening a net wrapped bale is a simple and straight-forward operation. The use of net eliminates the difficult and tiresome task of removing baler twine, especially in frosty conditions, and is also less likely to be picked up by livestock or machinery.
How many bales can be made from one roll of netwrap?
This depends upon bale diameter and crop type, Tama has recommendations on how many wraps should be applied, which can be found on the sleeve, in the booklet attached to the roll, and on our website www.tama.co.il.

How can I be sure that the roll will fit my baler?
The diameter, and width, of all Tama nets will allow it to fit comfortably into the feeding box of all baler types. Tama nets are developed and approved with all the leading OEM’s around the world, to ensure full compatibility.
Netwrap Baling Tips
When using Round Bale Netwrap, a few moments must be taken to ensure correct preparation of your machine in order to achieve the best results. The most common problems of net splitting, tearing, or fouling on feed rollers arise from the net ‘laddering’, where threads become broken, leading to a running stitch in the net running opposite to the direction of the net, eventually causing the net to separate where the ‘ladder’ has occurred. This can be caused by many different and varying circumstances but will always have the same ‘ladder’ effect.
Check that the area in which the roll sits is free from dirt and debris. Ensure that all metal surfaces the net comes into contact with are free from rust or sharp edges or weld spots (net box sides, spreader bars and rollers etc.), or dried paint ‘lumps’ on any surfaces which could damage the net. Clean up with emery paper if necessary. Also, check that the path for the net to the bale behind the feed mechanism is not dirty or rusty, which could restrict the net’s passage when feeding – often identified by a ‘lump’ of net at the start of the wrapping cycle. This is especially important when starting baling after winter storage.
Ensure the net is threaded correctly. Incorrect feeding of the net will cause incorrect tension being applied, leading to feeding and cutting difficulties which, in turn, will cause problems on subsequent net feed cycles. Where the net is fed through a series of fixed tension bars, always make sure these are clean and polished to avoid excessive friction. Excessive net friction or an uneven surface will cause the net to tear.
Where two rollers are used to feed the net, it is imperative these are correctly aligned and tensioned against one another, to enable the net to feed in evenly and under the correct tension. Incorrectly aligned rollers will produce a corresponding uneven net feed and subsequent cutting action at the end of the wrapping cycle. This will result in poor bale coverage and possible net fouling on the feed rollers at the start of the next cycle. The rollers’ surface should also be closely inspected for abrasions or damage, which could snag the net when feeding.
Ensure the feed rollers are clean of any moisture or residue. Never use an aggressive cleaning agent such as petrol or turpentine to clean rubber rollers.
Always dust rubber rollers down with French chalk or talc powder when loading a new roll of Netwrap, or use anti-static spray to reduce net static when operating. This avoids the net fouling and wrapping around the rollers when feeding in.
Carefully inspect the condition of the belt joiners on variable chamber balers for damage or worn connections, as this will snag the net and cause a tear, which will split the net on the bale.
Make sure the knife or cutting surface is clean and undamaged. Poor cutting action will result in an uneven ‘tail’ to the net, which can become tangled in the rollers and feed mechanism.
Is the net strong enough?
We guarantee a minimum net strength. Yes. As well as constant checks during production. Regular benchmark comparative tests are showing on average our net is 17% stronger than competitors’ nets.
What is the price per roll?
The real question you should ask is ‘what is the cost per bale’. Tama’s stronger net, guaranteed minimum length, mesh lock closing effect, ‘edge to edge’ covering, and trouble-free baling combine to give you an unbeatable cost per bale! For a clear breakdown of how your cost per bale is lower when buying Tama netwrap, contact your Tama local salesperson.
What is the length of the net?
Tama netwraps are available in lengths from 2,000m to 4,500m. All types and brands of Tama netwrap have a guaranteed minimum length, using European measuring method with stamp of approval. competitor nets, working on a plus or minus tolerance, and not minimum length, based on our continuance benchmarking, are on average 8% less than their declared length.
Twine
Can different twines be used in the same baler?
It depends… Double tie knotters tie an upper and lower twine together, so it’s recommended to use the same twine in the upper and lower twines, to reduce knot slippage and mis-ties. If the upper and lower twines are the same, each knotter can theoretically use a different twine, but the knotters need to be adjusted to accept the different twines. Tama recommends using the same, high quality twine on both the upper and lower twines, to prevent any issues in the field.
How many bales can I make with a full baler load of IMPAX technology twines?
The short answer: Many more bales! If we look at one example: We produce our standard Tama Twine+ 4,000’/ 650, which would make approximately 895 (3X4X8’) bales. If the new John Deere XtraTwine+ with IMPAX Technology 4,800’/ 700 spools were used, an operator could make approximately 1,074 bales per baler load. That’s an increase of 179 more bales in every baler load of IMPAX Twine!
Are there any other manufacturers who produce twines like Tama’s IMPAX Technology?
No. Like many of Tama’s innovative products, other manufacturers try to replicate the cutting-edge products that Tama produces, but they are unable to achieve a similar end result in their products. Genuine Since IMPAX technology twines contain up to 40% more twine in every spool, compared to standard twines, the cost per spool or cost per pound may seem relatively expensive. But don’t forget that each spool or each pound of twine can actually make many more bales than standard twines. This is where calculating the cost per 1,000’ feet or cost per square bale is key, to make a fair comparison. If you need assistance, please contact one of our Tama Assist experts and we’ll be happy to help. Technology is the only advanced twine on the market that increases efficiency and productivity to a whole new level.
Can used baler twine be recycled?
Yes! Tama has partnered with a revolutionary plastic recycler in the Netherlands, called Healix. Together, we’ve perfected the process to recycle used twine from Europe and successfully incorporate the Post Consumer Resin (PCR), back into what we call TamaCycle twine products. Tama Cycle Twine contains at least 30% PCR & closes the loop, in a full circle, multiple lifespan, sustainable product.
What happens to the used twine that isn’t recycled back into TamaCycle twine?
Within Tama, we incorporate additional PCR polypropylene into other products such as netwrap cradles, end bungs, carrying handles and other packaging components. In addition, the excess PCR material helps to reduce the plastic impact within the automotive and construction industries in what’s called an open loop process.
How does Tama twine compare to my current twine?
Tama twines are manufactured using the most advanced equipment and techniques, with higher specification resins, which create strong twine without excess thickness. This means Tama twine is less bulky than a traditional twine of equivalent strength, which enables more stable and secure knots. For help in choosing the right twine for your application, please feel free to contact your nearest Tama representative. Or check out our resources at Tama Assist .
Will I need to adjust my baler to use Tama twine?
Like all makes of twine, some balers may require slight adjustment to obtain the best knotting performance between different twine types and producers.
Tama twine performs well with all makes and models of large square balers, when matched to the correct application, in a properly adjusted and maintained baler. For additional information and support, please visit Tama Assist
Will all Tama Twine spools fit in my baler?
Standard Tama twines are manufactured to be able to fit in common balers with smaller twine boxes.
Tama extended length spools offer many more meters per spool, but are intended for modern balers with larger twine boxes.
What is the difference between tensile strength and knot strength?
Tensile strength is the maximum breaking force of a specific twine, without a knot, when measured while being pulled between two opposing drums.
Knot strength describes the maximum measured strength a twine containing a knot can achieve, before breaking while being pulled between two opposing drums.
Is your Twine tested in all balers and on all knotters?
Yes, Tama R&D works closely with all OEM’s (Original Equipment Manufacturers) engineering departments to test, validate and approve the use of the right twines for each application, taking the guesswork out of the equation, when using Tama Twines.
Who makes knotters …
CLAAS – validated with UCF
AGCO (Massey Ferguson, Hesston & Fendt) validated with AGCO
Raaspe – knotters for CNH, Krone, Kuhn
All OEM’s use Tama Twine for their knotter setup and testing!
Should twine packs and spools be handled carefully?
Yes, careful handling of the spools will ensure that the twine will perform properly in the baler.
If damaged spools are used in a baler, they may cause tying problems and damage to some components in the tying system.
Why should I use IMPAX Technology twines?
IMPAX Technology twines provide noticeable advantages to any Large Square Baling operation. Due to the twine’s reduced diameter, we are able to provide many more meters per spool, which increases the number of bales an operator can make with each baler load of twine. The smaller diameter of the twine also reduces common tying issues experienced in the field, while reducing the wear and tear on the tying system components in the baler. Couple this with a large reduction in the amount of plastic used per bale or per season, you are helping to reduce your carbon footprint in your own operation.
How long have IMPAX Technology twines been in development?
Before Tama introduces any new product to the market, we invest many years & thousands of hours in the field to perfect the product for our end users to be proud to use our products. IMPAX Technology is no different. After over 5 years of development and millions of bales made all over the globe, we are confident that IMPAX Technology can improve nearly any operation.
Can I recycle IMPAX Technology twine?
Absolutely. All of Tama twines, including IMPAX twines are 100% recyclable and it’s our goal to be an active participant in doing our part to close the loop.
Are IMPAX Technology twines expensive?
Since IMPAX technology twines contain up to 40% more twine in every spool, compared to standard twines, the cost per spool or cost per pound may seem relatively expensive. But don’t forget that each spool or each pound of twine can actually make many more bales than standard twines. This is where calculating the cost per 1,000’ feet or cost per square bale is key, to make a fair comparison.
